Club Appeal

As many you will have read in Focal Point over recent seasons we have been constantly on the look out to recruit new members. It will come as no surprise that this is still the case however our need has become much greater.  Due to a dearth of young players coming through and older players ceasing to play any longer we are now in serious danger of being unable to fulfill our fixtures for the forthcoming season.

Winthorpe Cricket Club is a long established village cricket team that has been in existence since 1887.  Like most grass roots teams things have been difficult in recent years especially on the playing front with the numbers of people wishing to play cricket diminishing. This year finds us with even fewer playing members to call upon hence this appeal.

We play in Division 3 of the McKinnels Sunday League which is a good friendly standard of cricket that can be enjoyed by all. All teams play in and around the Lincoln area so travelling is  limited and if a problem transport can be arranged with other players.

There is no problem with equipment as the club can provide pads, bats etc. Additionally the Club has it's own ground and practice facilities which are in regular use.

We are looking for players of any ages and any experience to join us to ensure that again we can fulfil our fixtures and enjoy a few games of cricket throughout the forthcoming season.

Home games are played at Holme Lane which, win or lose, are normally being followed by a short trip to the local pub for a couple of social beers. Current playing ages range from 16 through to 60. If you would like to join us or visit the ground and take part in one of our informal practice sessions please contact one of the following:
